is there one on the 97' 3800 engine? if so, where exactly?

Doesn't have one unless you pull a Freeze Plug, and I wouldn't do that. I got the Prestone Flush-n-Fill kit from Pep Boys and did the total engine flush myself. A little messy, but worth it. Just MAKE SURE you use the DexCool (Red) when you replace the Antifreeze, if you don't already know.

Yeah. Make sure yo hav a bucket, not a drain pan, a 5 gal. bucket. I did this and it worked rel well, but I had water all over the garage floor, it was a mess.

thanks for the help. i didn't need a block drain plug after all. i just hooked a long hose to the inlet and then the outlet and flushed it with a garden hose until the water was clear both ways. i didn't think the water pump would turn backwards, but it does.

          thanks again
