Lately when I start my car, the engine starts fine, then the rpm drops immediately to 500 (or lower sometimes) for a second, then back up to 1000. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I'll pull out the IAC valve tomorrow and give it a quick clean, but I don't think that's the problem. It will do it every time I start the car, whether it's hot or cold, and even if it's immediately after I turn the engine off.
Any ideas?

Went to start it today and it would just choke off every time. If I gave it gas it would run for as long as I would give gas, but as soon as I let off it would die again. I figured it was most likely an IAC problem, so I popped the hood and I could immediately tell the problem. One of the screws for the IAC valve had fallen completely out and the other had backed out halfway. The valve was just dangling there. So I screwed my one screw in nice and tight. Where could I get a replacement for the one that fell out?

I was too busy today to do any checking around. Tomorrow I'm off work though so I'll see what I can find. If nothing else I'll shoot down to the dealer, I'm sure they'll have one.
97camRS: what color is your car? I'll keep an eye out for it. Mine is black with a license plate that says "BEASTV6". If you're not doing anything next weekend, you should try to come down to the Velocity Six meet in Orlando. We're meeting at Orlando Speed World on the 10th and then hitting Islands of Adventure on the 11th. Hit the link in my sig and go to the forums to check it out.

I drive a Silver RS, live across the street from the OP mall. Do you post on jaxracing.com or jacksonville-racing.com?

Nope, don't post on either of those boards. Never even read them. Certain people in the area have given the v6 fbody crowd a bad image, and while I haven't tried it, I've heard that I'll just get booed off the board when I come in talking about my lil' old v6 firebird. :(
Maybe you can catch up with us next time we go out to gainesville for some track runs. If you got AOL IM, my screen name is "BeastVsix". Oh, and I live down the road a bit... close to Slowcraft.. I mean Speedcraft... No, I was right the first time...

Yeah the jaxracing guys are a rough crowd, they are pretty cool to me though, so you live near Ridgeview huh? So you know a lot of F-body guys around here?
