is there something really wrong with a misfire? cause i think i got 2 right as my car started today...but then none again--ses light flashed a couple of times and the car felt like it was going to die, but did not. my car has always been a little hesitant to start after sitting for a prolonged period of time--like a day. but this is the first misfire i've had. any suggestions? you think not having a muffler could cause this? well, i don't know if i should worry about it or not, or if misfires are a pretty common thing among our engines. thx for all help!

plugs and wires are good...not that, anyone think maybe coil packs? i have no idea about these--i'm guessing mine are still stock and have been on there for 66k miles...would this do it? or you think it could be something else?2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

Bad coil packs are a possibility. I did have that experience once before, and on a car with only 29k miles on it. Might want to check them out.
I'd check the plugs, and the wires first as a place to start. Thanks,
JAM
02 Firebird GT

my car is doing it now....
I brought it in yesterday for an oil change( lazy)
and my mechanic said that the plugs have got pretty wide gaps. other then that everything looks ok....but wide gaps can cause my problem.
but my SES light never came on so I prob. not experiancing the exact same thing but in that neighboorhood.94 3.4L A4 white t-tops
moroso cai
3\"hi-flow pacestter exhaust
b&m shift kit
catco cat
01 T/A rear w/ 3.73\'s and posi
1 pc aluminum ds
blacked out signals

well isn't the fuel filter cause it just got changed...but today i think it might of happened again. i didn't see any ses lights (nor was i looking for them) but i did feel a little jolt at start (might be because i have no muffler) and i looked down at my odo a few miles later and it had reset--which i think is the same thing that happened yesterday when i got the misfire...anyone know? i think i got one misfire yesterday and no misfires today--but i don't know what would cause my odo to get reset???2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

Get plugs, you might as well get new wires while you are at it. I got mine from thunderracing.com for like $58 (NGK TR555 & Taylor wires). No complaints so far and it runs smoothly. :DRed 1999 Firebird M5
Whisper Lid,Borla Catback,K&N,Dual Friction Center Force Clutch,Hurst Shifter w/Lou\'s Short Stick,!FRA,Suncoast Ramair hood,160 Thermo,!maf,Chrome ZO6 Wheels, Painted Calipers, CIA Headers, Taylor Wires, NGK Spark Plugs, 3\" Catco, Jet Chip Stage II, BMR STB, LCA, PHR, SFC, Fan Switch, FTRA
Old Dyno Numbers: 183 RWHP, 217 RWTRQ
http://community.webshots.com/user/redsixer

that's what i just said earlier--plugs, wires, fuel filter have been replaced within the last month--it COULD be a bad connection on their part, but as far as the actual plugs/wires, it's not them i don't think. i don't know anything about coil packs, nor do i know about misfires. but w(hy)tf does my odo reset itself?2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

I had a problem kinda like that. My car would run only for 10 seconds very rough then die. SES light would not stay on but just flash a little at first. I took it in and they had to reprogram my PCM. They said there was a problem with the "fuel managment portion of the programming". How it got out of wack is beyond me. After the reprogram everything has worked great 4 years and running.
Edit: Didn't you just reprogram you PCM for your rear end? I would bet money thats what caused the problem. when did you get reprogrammed and when did the misfire problem start?
