What can it do for your car performance wise...

• #2
Autotap is just monitoring/logging software you can't change anything with it other than shutting off ses lights.

It will allow you to monitor a ton of things like air/fuel O2s and lots of things.

he said NO the first time if I remember reading that correctly. You can READ lots of stuff but you can't WRITE any data to the computer. You can RESET (take away SES light) but THAT'S IT.

Ka-peesh, comprende, got it?

...but

You can use it as a tool to "help" with performance tuning.

For instance, if you have a maft, and change the air setting, you can check your a/f ratios at all points in the rpm range, logging the numbers, seeing if you are where you want to be.

If you add timing, you can check for knock retard, again at all points in the rpm range, in all gears.

You can pick up on misfires, while you're running.

You can monitor pulse widths on your injectors, if you are taking in more air via h/c or a power adder, and make sure you are sized correctly to handle the added power.

So it can help with performance related things, even if it doesn't let you change pcm settings.
