i have a 94 3.4l camaro. i mostly just drive to school and back. my car has 145k miles on it. before i got it(used), the person who had it took really bad care of it, so me and my dad fixed it up a lot. ive tried fuel injector cleaner and am still using it. i get an average of 16mpg. is this typical or is there anything that will help me get better mileage?

Ok, Make sure you have done these things. Tire pressure atleast 30-35 on all 4 tires. Is your alignment ok? A clogged fuel filter or air filter can cause bad gas mileage. Are your spark plugs and wires ok? Do you have an SES (service engine soon) light on? What octane gas do you use, and how do you drive? (i.e a bat out of hell, a gradma, or inbetween. Do you have the stock tires sizes? If you don't, your odomter will put on more miles than you are actually driving. Also, check out your throttle body, it's probably very dirty. Also, make sure your catylitic converter isn't clogged.

Do this
Replace
PCV Valve,Plugs/Wires,Cap/Rotor,Check Tire Pressure/Size 35PSI APX),Rear Axle Oil,Transmission Fluid,Fuel Filter,Air Filter,Clean Throttle Body with TB Cleaner,Replace O2 Sensors
Whats your average Engine Temp? 180-220 is Normal, any lower can cause poor economy.
Check Catalytic Converter (maybe be clogged)
AC Use and aerodynamic drag (Open Windows/T-Tops) will affect economy.

i get about the same in my 3.4 and i know few others do too. i havent done a tune up on the car though so maybe when i do that it might help. i always thought that i was getting average mileage out of my 3.4. most likely i'll be doing a tune up in about a month so if i see a big difference ill post it up.http://www.cardomain.com/id/ohmygoth

Also to add to that list that v8 killer mentioned you might try replacing your O2 sensors. Ive heard that theyre only good for about 120K after which they can get really inacurate. Also on a better note, you might even try changing to heated O2 sensors. Its really not that hard, just have to run a ground wire and an ingition switched positive wire and just hook the sensor up as you normally would on an OBD 1 car. The only bad thing I can see of this is theyre more expensive than the regular O2's on the 3.4. I have 123k on my 95 and I avg. around 19-21 mpg with premium fuel. When I run regular the engine knocks slightly at cruising speeds and gets about 16-18 mpg. I plan on doing a full tune-up and hopefully changing over to heated O2's.1995 Arctic White Camaro. 3.4L/A4

\"Stupid men make mistakes, wise men learn from mistakes\"

My 3.4 also got around 17-18mpg on average. It was a gas hog compared to my 3800, and it had been abused like yours. I would definitely do a full tune up like these guys are saying AND do Oxygen sensors.-1999 Camaro Coupe 3800 Series II V6 A4 - SOLD
-1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe

Well, when I first got my camaro, instead of screwing around and putting fuel cleaner etc just go to your shop and have them presurize the system clean. I heard they stopped doing it cause it may cause problems, but man it works really wellBorla exhaust, headers and intake coming soon...(delayed)

To be fixed:Bent rim, minor scatches
