I think everybody will say the LS1 is better.

I believe the LT1 is faster off the bottom and the LS1 is more on top end, but the LS1 is no slouch off the line either.

For Forced Induction, the iron block of the LT1 will last a lot longer though.

I like the LT1... I want a '95 Firehawk with the 330hp LT1 :D

the LT1 is iron block/aluminum head, and has been proven to be able to take more of a beating than the LS1. it makes its torque peak at a low 2400 rpm.

The LS1 was forged on mount olympus, all aluminum, and has some INCREDIBLY good flowing stock heads, that can be made better, and can make crazy topend power. tq peaks at 4000 rpm.

Honestly I think they both handle nitrous really well, but for supercharger route, go LT1.

Would one of those LS6's like from the new Z06 corvettes fit in a camaro? I thought they were around the same size as the LS1, just slighty better engineered and some lightweight parts.
1997 Camaro v6 3.8
Bone Stock, just a little slower then most station wagons.
**Either the slowest SS or the prettiest v6**

I know the LS-6 block has a flat bottom as opposed to the concave bottom of the LS-1. The LS-6 intake and heads flow better and it has a different cam for sure. I think there may be other differences, but right off hand I'm not entirely sure.

I thought I saw somewhere that had a LS6 for swap into a camaro, and it came with a different camaro oil pan.

this is true. pace performace sells the ls6 components for the camaro.

it will fit and their are two reasons why
1: lt1 and the lt4 are the same block
2: the most important reason is because they made 110 lt4 camaros in 97

not to start anything, but poll.......for the price and power.......LT1 or LS1?

i need to make a good decision by december!

are aftermarket prices for LT1's cheaper...or about the same?

thanks,
