  • bad fuel pump?

Well when I accelerate the engine sticks at 3000 rpms drops a few hunderd rpms, goes back up to 3k then rockets to 3500 and you get jerked back into the seat. I sort of feels like when you hit the speed limiter and the fuel is cut off but not so hard. I've also been hearing the fuel pump whine when the car is at idle. IS the pump my problem?

I had an Idleing problem last year. As I would accelerate, I would let my foot off of the gas pedal, and the Idle would either stay at about 3000-3500rpm's, or it would go up by itself and stay there for about 5 whole seconds and then go back to normal idle. Everytime I tapped the gas pedal, the rpm's wouls shoot up to 3k, and I couldn't figure out why. Got a good tip through here, turns out it was my IAC Valve. Dealer price: way too much, Autozone: $26.00. Fixed it and the erratic idle never came back (knock on wood).
