  • Do Mudflaps create THIS much drag???

Installed Chevy Mudflaps for appearance, gave her some gas to get out the way of a car, The RPM's got up to 3 - 4Kish but, I was still doing 30 MPH in second gear, It seems like I should have been going close to twice that fast...

RPMs are directly related to speed. In a given gear, the same speed will always result in the same RPM.

      Never knew that...

What if you're going uphill at 70 MPH and you don't drop a gear? The engine won't work harder to accomidate for the extra resistance? or the RPM's won't SHOW that the engine isn't working harder to accomidate for the extra resistance to maintain 70 MPH?

RPMs only show how fast the engine is turning. You open the throttle more, which allows more air to enter the engine, which results in more power...but the engine is still turning at the same speed.

So basicly does this mean I have a problem or everything is just fine?

If you had a 5 speed, it may be time for a new clutch... do this simple test. Get on level ground... get the car to 25 mph put in third gear and gun it, if the rmp's go up before you increase speed, it's time for a new clutch. If you have an automatic then I dunno, somebody w/ an auto would have to help ya. Hope this helps.

At 30 in second gear of my auto, im only at around 2500RPM or so. I have the 3.08 gears however, and 2nd lasts until 80 for me....
