  • anyone who knows something about our windows....

alright. lets see. my stabilizer broke a while ago. took me forever to get money to fix it. it scratched the tint all to hell and what not because the rubber fuzzy stuff broke off and it was just a sharp metal thing there. well the other night while rolling my window up, it starts to cave in towards me, but it can't because of several things blocking it and the rubber piece near the windshield is keeping it locked in. i can move the window back and forth when its all the way down. so i get brave and take my door panel off(2 hours!!! argh!!). after look around for a while i notice that there's a piece at the bottom of the silver track that runs up and down. its all the way at the bottom. so i'm like "that shouldn't be there." i look at the window, and there is a metal piece thats connected to the window by it looks like a screw going throw the window. the screw goes through the outside part of the window into the piece thats on the window, and then into a bar thats connected to the X type bar that goes up and down.(moves the window.) well the piece thats in that track that goes up and down is supposed to go into the piece, thats screwed(or pinned) into the window, is stripped and its cracked down the bottom middle. the piece of the track just pops right into it(horrible design GM!! you should of screwed that **** in.)

    well here's my question.

can i take that screw(ok pin?!) out and buy a new piece that the piece on the track goes into? or do i have to buy a whole new window?

this is so frustrating. having to push on the window for it to go up all the way and not get stuck.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!! i'll probably go to a deal soon.
p.s. i tried to rig it up so it would get stuck in the hole, but to no avail. i wish i had welder or something.

Nice color on your car. Check my sig :D

On your window this is somewhat typical in the older 4th gens. The rivet on the guide busted off. The guide aligns and keep the window in place while going up and down. The last time I replaced mine it was like $40 bucks new from the dealer. Your better off IMHO getting the new one. It's not that bad to replace.

The problem with putting a screw or something in there is that you need the pulley to be free to turn and roll shile moving up and down.

thanks a lot. argh, 40$ is a lot for me. hopefully my mom will front it. i just have no clue on how to get that screw off... since its on the other side of the window, facing outside. i don't know if i can get a ratchet in there or what.

yea, that color is the best color on the fbody's. at least the firebirds... AND it looks better on firebirds ;) .

      thanks again for the info
