If you never read it, I bought a pump fro autozone and it wouldnt clear my drivebelt, the tube coming off it wasnt ofset correctly. Well I put the old pump back on and its failing and making the car sluggish and whining horribly. I got one from O'Reilly, and guess what? Its even worse than the Autozone one!!! It wont clear the crankshaft! The autozone one was bent to where it at least made it under the crankshaft pulley, this one wont! What is the deal? no one else has had these problems with power steering pumps? It cant be my car. There is no room for error. It goes onto two studs on the engine, only goes on one way. Unless my crankshaft is in the wrong spot lol. I dont know what I am going to do. Someone suggested hammering it, but its a very thick pipe and I would be affraid to damage the pump.

My autozone replacement was a good fit. Are you routing the belt correctly when you rehook everything up? I know it's fairly close, but I've got like an inch of clearance.Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"

You could always get just a new pump without the resevoir. The stock resevoir can be removed from the pump and a new pump can be installed in it's place. That will make sure that the tubing is in the correct location and the pump by itself is a little cheaper.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

What do yo mean seperate resovoir? Mine is seperate, maybe they changed them in the later years. What I am thinking, on the car there are two studs. They are horizontally aligned on the block. In the parts manual, the two studs lok to be at a diagonal alignent. I know they have holes on the block in that spot and that would swing the pump arm down. Can anyone confirm if those are the studs used? I removed one of the studs and liquid started dripping out. Looked like water, not coolant, maybe I jsut didnt see enough.

Well something is seriously screwed up. these pics will describe far more than any words can:

Edit: This makes absolutly no sense. There is no way for that stud to be wrong though because the holes are to far apart. Am I reading the diagram wrong? Or is it just wrong? But why did both pumps not fit?

Do you still have the stock one? I'm thinking something's wrong with the rebuild. The shiny metal in the pic shows pretty clearly where the back of the pump sits.Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"
