• Another Wiper Question

Alright, I must be an idiot, but has anyone else had a problem with putting on another set of wipers? The ones I had bought from Advanced Auto are sort of Universal, you know, like most of the wiper blades are. The computer said these were the type I needed. Well for some reason, they can only be setup to go on the arm if the hook at the end is facing up, rather than down like on our cars. Did I just get screwed on the brand I bought? Or did anyone else have to do a little modifications just to get the blades on the arm? I tried everything, you cant even reverse the clips. THIS IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE A 10 SEC JOB! If everyone else put them on with ease, Im going to go back and buy a different brand.

What brand are they?

Are they just refills or the entire blade?

I dont remember the name brand... This was about a month ago, and I ended up tossing the boxes, and just replacing the rubber blade instead. But the rubber blades already broke, so Im going to buy a whole other wiper...
Now how come I am not getting any posts that say, "Yea, I put my wipers on with no problem." Apparently no one changes their own wipers, or it really is a b*tch because our cars are different than every other regular wiper arms on GMs making universal ones not work.

Oh, and I forgot, they came from Wal*Mart, not advanced auto... whoops.

OK, since you asked...

I use the Anco blade refills without any problems. Of course I've been doing it since 94 so maybe it's just become automatic for me

Ive changed the rubber blades, thats no problem. Im talking about the entire wiper itself, (Not including the arm of course).

I just put some "generic" wipers on three weeks ago. It took nearly 20 minutes in the rain. Well i thought at least i saved five bucks.

Not only did were the generic wipers a PITA to install but they also did a worse job of clearing the windshield than the old Ansco's they were replacing.

I took those junk blades off and spent the extra on Ansco's. Intalled in about 2 minutes and they actually clean the entire window.

Bottom line ..... you get what you pay for.
