it says im running rich ????

i threw a code. and it says im running rich on bank 1. i think its just the o2 sensor going out. But here is my question. I know what the o2 does or actually what it measures, but does it affect engine performance. Like if the o2 is going bad and it says im running rich will the ECU then throttle gas back on that bank and such, i dont know if im asking it right. I hope someone knows what i mean. I hope someone can answer this retarded question. LOL, and if they are bad, should i just put in 3 sims and get it over with ??

i was reading some posts on another board and it seems like a bad o2 sensor would also be why im getting horrible gas mileage. I mean like 15 a gallon half city, half highway. At the half tank mark its at 160 miles, and we all know the half way is not really the half way mark.

its your 02 replace all 4 at the same time, if you get sims at least leave one on there, just in case a injector goes bad, the y pipe one will do

they wil give you crapy gas mileage.

i get about 27 MPG for city/highway driving

if its not the O2 it could be

inject is sticking adding to much fuel
or
bad spark not buring all the fuel

BTW on 1997 cars we have 4 O2
1 in each header (2)
1 in the Y pipe
1 after the cat

the ones in the header areas or a PITA times 8

if you get the pace setter headers its worth it cause it opens up the bay ALOT, O2 and spark plugs are REALLY easy to get to

that sounds like a plan, i want headers, just been stalling on it. I should get them and get it over with. Do they already have the bungs in them for the 02 sensors or should i just get sims.
