  • Hi-output alternator

I got one installed in my car today and the voltometer is at about the 12-13 mark but if I use a battery tester it says i have about 15 while running. Is that normal when you have a hi-output alternator? Mine is 160 amps and stock is 105 amps.

Figured I'd ask it here cuz the f-body website has never helped me with my problems.

most high output alts push 13.3-14 volts, or the ones ive seen do, maybe your voltmeter is not calibrated correctly?

when the engine is on you should see about 14V or a little over.
