  • Whoops! Wrong tube!!!

My older brother was working on my car, and was trying to get the radator to come out, and accidetenly loosened up the A/C deal going by it for like 1 min (started spraying, not heavy, sort of like misting ) I have yet to use the car, but will this effect anything? OR will my a/c life just be shortened?! Thanks!

I think you'll need to get your AC serviced. :(

            Start the car.
            Drive around.
Turn the system on and see if it still blows cold air out.
Kick your brother in the nuts.
Go to dealer and see how much is still in there.

You won't hurt your car - if the refrigerant level is too low, there is a low-pressure cut-out switch in the system that prevents the AC compressor from running and doing any damage.

You probably lost enough R134 that the system won't work anymore, but you won't do any damage by trying.

On the other hand, recharging the system is relatively cheap - you can try it yourself with a can of R134 and the proper tools. Or you can take it to any place that does AC service, and if you explain to them what happened (and why it is low), they should be able to recharge it without having to troublshoot, saving you some labor costs. R134 is cheap, and just adding a charge doesn't take long, so I am thinking you can get it recharged for around $25 if you find the right mechanic to do it.
              ...it\'s lonely out in space...
