i love my car but ive just about had enough with it. i've owned it for 1 year now and have done alot of mods to it but unfortunatley it hasnt been reliable. Ive had to replace the drive belt, rotors, pads. it has a rear main seal leak, the fenders are popped out, the front speakers are going out. Now the differential is about shot. I've had enough i think my f-body owning days are coming to an end, my 2nd gen Z28 didnt even give me this many problems and it was over 20 years old.

I have a 2002 with a replaced serpentine belt 2 sets of rotors 1 set of pads, my front fenders are popped out too but it was my fault for jacking it up in the wrong spot, front end alignment, I have a short somewhere in my wiring because my blinker will randomly quit working and sometimes it's a brake light, 4 fog lights replaced, a set of tires, my power steering pump is going out and my alternator is making quiet squealing noises that make me nervous, had my back shocks replaced on my hatch, had the latch replaced on my hatch, there is a HORRIBLE rattling coming from my exhaust, and I have weird vibrations coming out of the steering wheel while driving down the expressway.
but I love my car more than any other one that I have ever had :D it is also the nicest one I have ever owned. but take it easy, alot of people have it worse.
When you talk about problems, you can't count things like belts and brakes. That all falls under maintenance, and are expected to wear out.
As for the rear main: Its a known problem with the 3.8's. If you had done your homework before you bought your car, you'd know this
The fenders? Well... I highly doubt they just popped out on their own. Maybe either you jacked it up wrong, or the previous owner did.
Also, its a 2000. How did you manage to kill the differential already?

Mine has been extremely reliable...with 104k miles on it, I have replaced by need...waterpump and spark plug wires. The tranny now has issues, but it still has original brakes, clutch, belt, hoses. I cannot complain, and no I do not baby it, I drive it hard.

The pads and rotors are expected maintanance on any car. Also with the belt, depending on the mileage of the car. Rear main seal leak is common for the 3.8, but unless you are losing a noticable amount of oil, then I wouldn't worry about it. And I don't see how the fender would just pop out unless you are jakcing up the car in the wrong spot.
I'd just invest in a rear end off a Z28 and enjoy iy longer, but whatever you choose, hope it all works out.
I'm sorry to say this but i've thinking of converting over to the dark side. Anyway, I love the way my car looks but it is so unreliable, problem after problem. It's a '96 and it's nearing 97k. These are the problems I had in the last month and still currently have.
1. Tranismission valve body is bad, and says component is slipping P1870.
2. The carrier in the rear is really bad and needs to be replaced.
3. Rear main seal leak, oil pan leak, and both valve covers are leaking.
4. A misfire that I can't diagnose. Some mechanics are scratching their head over, i think it can be the crankshaft sensor or ICM. But i'll find out which this weekend.
5. Wheel bearings needed replacing in rear.
6. Not GMs fault but, alternator (1 yr old) is going, and 4 of my tires (1yr old) have belts showing through
7. Something in the front wheel is really messed up and is clunking really badly to the point of making it undriveable.
8. I replaced it, but I was driving and the whole idler pulley that holds the A/C compressor broke off from the engine, sending my A/C compressor into where the oil filter sits and gouged the hell out if it, it also sent my belt flying and leaving me with no steering while i was driving. I could've died.
I could probably think of more but it'll probably just make me more pissed off, lol. I've had my car for 3 years now and take very good care of it, i've spent probably close to 4k in parts to keep it running good. I'm starting to see that GM makes some very crappy vehicles. I have a lot of friends with Fbodys and stuff you wouldn't think that would break, does. I don't mean anything against you guys. But seriously...
Im not too happy with my car right now but im not about to give up on her. its a 2000 but i have 69k miles on it. i drive it alot and race it occationaly. i've been wanting to put a set of 3.73 gears in it, this just bumps it up the to do list. the diff is not totally shot yet its making an intermediate whoosh sound at low speeds and cruising. it has what appears to be a slight leak where the drive shaft meets the diff. hopefully it will hold out till i can get the $$$ to replace it. No matter what im not getting rid of her (well unless it blows up or something). just the heads that turn when i drive by, the people that cant believe its just a six when they ride in it, and the mustang gt owners that get embaressed when i pop the hood after a race. It just makes it all worth it (ok not really but im trying to be inspirational)

Sounds like you have a case of Nachiusism, the more mods he did, the worse off it got. Just watch, put it back to stock & it will be soooooooo reliable ;)

I bet you usually drive pretty hard too! I have a friend that tears the crap out of his vehicles, and his pickup has thousands of dollars in mods and he doesn't shift until atleast 5k rpm every time and for him, the foot is either shoving the brake pedal to the floor or the gas to the floor, there is no middle. On his 2nd or 3rd rearend in 1 year. I rarely shift past 2500 rpm and brake way in advance or use the engine to brake and my car has been in the shop once, misfire problem. They way you drive your car WILL determine how long it will last.
Sorry for the lecture here, just annoyed at the people who are behind me 1 block from a stoplight and they speed around me at the last minute only to stop at the red light.
Grab a wrench and pliars and you can fix your popped out fenders, i've done it a few times by putting it on the lift wrong. there's a metal piece with a lip that you need to grab with the pliars and push towards the center of your car. this wraps the front fenders back tight and makes them look clean again....really really easy fix and at first looks like its gonna be $$$
