i'm haveing a rough idle it sounds and feels like it is missing this follows the car into reverse but when you go back to drive, and drive for about a minute the problem goes away and doen't come back till it has cooled back down. also it is making a strange sound around 40 MPH. it sounds like a grinding, shaking sound. I will to who ever can tell me what would make that sound.

i had a rough idle when i put it into reverse only and it ended up being a bad head gasket! around 2k to fix (at dealer!) 500 was just parts! I dont know if this is whats wrong with yours tho.

man I hope not.. I can't see any oil leakage on the motor but I'm not going to dump that kind of change b/c of a rough 45 seconds.

yea mine had that problem also and it was an intake gasket. Got it fixed at the dealer for only $485. Well worth it to be fixed though. Keep in mind didnt get mine changed till it had 90k miles on it. Who knows how longs the seal was shreded like it was. Get it tested at the dealer for a vacuum leak. That is what gave mine away.

Had that similar problem and it turned out to be the plug wire shorting out on block.
check at night and see if you can detect noise- clicking, and then look for spark jump, or when engine is off look for burned wire.
