i may not be posting in the right place, and if not please move. anyway, my last car was a '91 dodge stealth es. while on the first tranny i had a top speed of about 157. the second tranny (needed after ex-girlfriend powershifted 5th to 1st ) would net 173. i have a '99 a4 firebird with 308's, if i were to get around the computer cutoff what are the odds that i could reach these kinds of topend speeds?? what do you think would have to be done to see speeds that fast?? i trying to build my bird to somewhere along the same lines as my stealth was, good all around. hard off the line and murder on top end.
thanx in advance

I think the most someone said they got up to was 145 or something. The computer limits the top speed, and I'm not really sure if theres anything that can take that off (speed limiter).
Advanced tech is not a place for this, it will end up relocated to gen tech.
Speed limiter is 118 mph.
I do not have one.
On the bottle I have been to 145 mph.
What you are asking for is ls1 power honestly

Unless he was driving a LeMans racer - but I doubt he was :D
200hp is good for 140-150mph depending on gearing in an fbody, physically.
250hp would put you more in the 155+mph area.
the car came stock with 222hp, added k&n, bigger air intake pipe, ghetto ram air, modified exhaust, getrag tranny, mitsubishi dealer remapped the computer. 225 has always just been an estimate since i never had the car on a dyno. i have a pic of the speedo at 155 on my pc at home. can post it tomorrow if ya want.
but the reason i posted wasnt to split hairs over whether or not i went fast in a car i used to have, but if such a top end was achieveable with my bird. i posted that to give an example of what i would like to be able to do in my bird. i know that the dohc 24v that it had makes a difference compared to the 3.8 in the bird.

I always thought non-turbo stealth got suckered into the sohc 3.0 v6(141 hp)<---[I may just be on crack ]
and I also thought non turbo stealths wher rwd?(whereas the tt are 4wd)
EDIT: non-r/t non-es stelths have the lame sohc 3.0(164 hp)
Performance-wise, the Stealth R/T Turbo (according to the August 1991 Car and Driver issue) ran 0-30 mph in 1.6 seconds, 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds, 0-100 mph in 14.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 14.0 seconds at 98 mph. Top speed? Although projected to be 165 mph, it only ran 155 mph on this test day. Roadholding? How about 0.87g. Fuel economy? A comfortable 17/23 city/highway.
For the turbo projected top speed was 165
Reality was 155
