87 works best. Dont waste your money on the fancy stuff unless your hearing pinging from your engine

      Hurt? No.
      Help? No.

Stick with 87. Our cars are made for it. Any more is a waste of money.

I usually use 87, but every couple months i fill my tank up with 89. I guess it kind of has the same effect of going out every couple months and buying a bottle of the octane booster or injector cleaner to add to a full tank. It pretty much equals out so that either way you are paying the same amount... whether you spend that extra money at the pump or at the auto parts store.

89... not for performance but because it tends to leave less depsoits and detergents which makes for a cleaner motor. But unless you have to (like me) just run what the manual tels you.

Save your money. Run 87 unless there is some obvious problem with it. Do the math:

If you drove 15K/yr and your car averaged 24 mpg overall:
[plugging in $1.78 for 87 and $1.86 for 89, which is what I pay right now]
total $$ for gas running 89 for one year: $1162.50
total $$ for gas running 87 for one year: $1112.50
            you save $50

            which is enough for:
a nice set of wires, or
            2 ignition coils, or
5 bottles of really expensive FI cleaner [techron], or
a really expensive set of spark plugs, or
beer, most of which would improve the performance of your car more than running 89 octane.

If your car is stock and doesn't run well on 87, something's wrong with it.

I think it averages out to be the same cost wise. Runnin 87, i get good mileage, and between city/highway, id average 280-300 miles per tank.

I just did a tank of 93, and although it cost more to fill up ($6-7 more), im already at 340miles and have about 3-4 gallons left.

I have been reading here some other claims about improved gas maileage with 92 vs 87 octane. I am in the process of trying it out for myself. After tracking mileage I then need to do the math. Interested to see for myself.
Yep, your car is factory tuned for 87 octane...as per the manual.

                  1st. Octane booster just adds 1/10th of a point of octane. IE (X brand adds 15 points 2 the octane) 15 points =1.5 so 87 w/ brand X would = 88.5 octane.

2nd additional octane would either do nothing or actually ruin performance. ie adding 110 octane or running a tank of 110. ur engine TOTALLY doesnt need it. and now the fuel has 2 burn hotter which = engine heat = less performance.

if u r running 87 and are not pinging, ur fine and dont need 2 run 89 or 91/92/93
