  • Trip Meter Resetting

Ever since I put in my smaller battery, when I start the car the trip meter goes back to 0. It'll hold the number thru out the drive, when I shut it off, and when I put the key in again the next day. But as soon as I crank it, boom, back to 0.

    Anything I can do?

With the hood open, have a friend turn the key to the on position (don't start the car). Do you hear a click near the front drivers side of the car?

It'll be a while before I can check that anything on the car itself. Some sorta relay by the fuse box?
      Keep the ideas comin'! Thanks!

There's actually a TSB out there for this problem on the 99's. TSB #99-08-49-009
"The problem only exists when the car is cold and the battery drops below approximately 85% normal operating voltage. This causes the instrument cluster to reset itself. The regular odometer is not affected, and no other areas of the car are affected."

Since this is supposed to only affect 99's, it's possible your "smaller" battery is the problem.

        Good luck!

Sounds very similar to me -- I wonder what the TSB replaces?
