In the future, maybe a year and a half from now, I plan on getting the ATI supercharger and the kit that is being developed right now. Anyhow, what are all the modifications that I will have to do to my car (2001 Firebird V6) to run it with the Supercharger, safely? For example, will I need a new exhaust, or have to buy new pistons, or anything like that? Any help would be appreciated. I'm not that mechanically inclined, however my father is a mechanic, so don't be afraid to suggest things that you think I might not be able to do. He's always willing to help me out.
By the way, I do realize that doing all of this could get expensive. I'll probably have around $5 grand or so to spend on the SC and any other modifications I will need to do to my car...
1. Forged internals a la. L67(pistons/heads/pushrods etc..)
2. 3" exhaust, headers, CAI.
3. Gears and 3000-3200stall torque converter, alum driveshaft.
That way you can handle more boost. Get the most flow and high end power through your setup, and get all that power to the wheels as quickly as possible.
Ps...all of that with the SC will may cost a tad more than $5K, but if I had the car I just described, i'd be a happy camper
Anyone? What am I missing?
good luck man.
