i believe there are a couple of different values. you will need to measure your key's chip. btw, i believe bypassing will only work if the vats is still functional. the resistor tricks only tricks the car into thinking you have the key in the ignition. if you wiring to the ignition or ignition socket is bad then the above will work. otherwise you will need to get the vats diagnosed.
Yea my car wont start AT ALL now. Its been sitting for liek 2 days and wont start. So I cant take it anywhere. What should I do? Putting the resistor in wont fix it? Isnt there another trick to get it to start again? Please help!

My machince told me that you can put in a puch button off the strater to by pass the security system. Not sure if it is true or not I just paid the 300 to have it fixed right.

Happened to my car also. I took apart the whole steering column and pulled out the ignition. Turns out there is a little orange wire that was sliced in half. I re-soldered it, put everything back together, and the car fired right up.
I've heard that this is a common problem on GM cars w/ this chip!
But glad u got it to work!

If your car still doesn't start refer to my post under general tech bypass security http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...c;f=1;t=013081
I will never have that problem again. I just went around it. And yes you still need a key to start the car, just in case any would be thiefs are out there.
