• I broke Something! Please Help

ok so dumb *** me broke something when i was installing my headers. I think its the oil pressure sending unit or something to do with the oil. Did a search and there where a bunch of different things i got which didnt really help. So like its right next to the oil filter and its a long cylinder thing. So what i need to know what exactly is it and where can i get a new one.

When a person with a 3.4 chimes in....
I know that sounds like a sarcastic remark, but they did say they had a 3.4. To my knowledge, a diagram of a 3.8 does not help much because the 3.8 is not set up the same as a 3.4. The only way a diagram from a service manual becomes useful is when the engine depicted matches the engine being worked on. There are all different kinds of sensors and senders on different motors with the same basic shape. Now, if someone posted a picture of a 3.4 and located a sender or sensor near the header on the side of the motor where the oil filter is located, then we might be able to actually figure out what this person is talking about.
Sorry guys.... don't mean to sound rude or anything because I think you are all good people and want to help.... but could someone find a diagram of a 3.4? This might help answer this person's question a lot better than a picture of a different motor.

oooops, sorry about that. Didn't read his sig, so I never noticed he had a 3.4.

It's the oil pressure sending unit. It costs about $5 at autozone, and takes about 5 minutes to replace. My went out on me and was shooting oil all over my engine bay. I used an O2 socket to take it off.

Ok so it is the oil pressure sending unit. guess i will go get that today. sorry about not being specific. what im thinking and what i type is usually different.

what i was talking about was where the oil filter is there is this rubber looking cylinder looking thing that screws in right infront of the oil filter. it has a wire coming out of it on the other side. (i shoulda just takin a picture)

Sorry,

There is this stupid thing sticking out next to the oil filter, it is wrapped in rubber and then a heat resistant tape.....it is the oil pressure sending unit...I had to cut the rubber ot get mine out...after breaking it.

FYI, it is easy to replace, it is just that there are two types for our car (a 2 wire and 3 wire I think). I bought both and figured out which I needed and then returned the other. I am at work. If you need me to take a picture of it I can

I guess everyone assumed it, but it sounds liek the oil pressure sending unit don't worry trust me be happy now that your car was already down that you replaced it now, when it craps out it sucks, makes a mess and puts oil everywhere.

My car looked like Paul Walker's Eclipse in the first fast and furious, I woudl stop and white smoke coming out form under the hood since I was squirting oil onto the y-pipe.

BTW didn't you guys think it was a little wierd he snapped his oil sending unit while doing headers if he had a 3.8L they are no where near the headers like on a 3.4L.
