• Underdrive Pulley Install

Whats the easiest way to install a underdrive crank pulley??? Is there any other way I can install the pulley without sticking a screw driver in the transmission, I really don't feel like breaking anymore expenisive parts of my car. Thanks.

you might be able to use an impact wrench on the crank pulleys, if that wont work or you dont have one , then you have to use the screwdriver in the trans... its not hard, you shouldnt break anything

      Automatic?

Wasn't a problem on my 5 speed. Put it in 5th gear, pull the emergency brake and go at the bolt with a breaker bar.

        ehh its not that bad...

put it in park or in gear and pull e-brake up. then take each botl off.

hehe it was funny on my 3.4L when I was taking my crank pulley off, I had no e-brake, so I cranked the car in gear about 5 feet, before the bolts came loose

Sim0ply install, I took mine out and put in the stocker in about 20 minutes. And last night the guy I was selling it to, we did it in a parking lot of Sonics, in 15 minutes, and the power went out, all we had were mini mag-lites.

yes i had the same exact problem...

Get a crowbar or something to wedge in between the pulley, then have a friend pull the crowbar towards the nose of the car, this puts pressure on the pulley and makes it not move.

You can do it your self just a lot harder to pull on the crowbar while trying to loosen the bolt. Its better if you have a friend there to help you.

Also remove the middle bolt first, then do the 4 smaller ones.

I would try to jsut force it, real hard.

Or put something to block the wheels. not sure I woudl be a fan of the crow bar thing.

Do you have any jack stands? Jsut take the black part out, and wedge the jackstand on its side, behind the wheel.

Then "jerk" the bolt to get it started.

Yeah, i'm the guy who did it in the parking lot. When I took it off, I just too the biggest and longest socket wrench i had, put it on the center bolt, and gave it a couple of good tugs and it came loose. Then, I did the 4 corners. Maybe try spraying some PB blast on it(its a penatrative oil you can get at most auto parts stores) and leave it on there for a few hours before. Makes it easier sometimes. Maybe if your bolts are that hard to remove you should pick up a set of new ones at the parts store, as well as clean your threads out good before you put your new pulley back on.
