  • 12 bolt rear

OK, ive seen that 12 bolt rears are extremely expensive for our cars so ive been looking for alternatives. So my question is would the rear end from a GMC truck fit on our cars and would it be wise to put on if it does fit? i am pretty sure it would be a close fit since our cars have a pretty wide rear end so im just trying to find out if there is a deffinate answer. thanks.

the S-10's are a alternative, but slightly narrower (your wheels would be like 1/2-1" inside what they are now)
alomst wish that i had gone w/ a 12-bolt. by rebuild ran almost 1/2 the price tag and i still have to replace the worn axle shafts (using moser cometition axles) which are around 300 bones.

AHve you broken your rear yet?

If not don't weat it, you are going to need alot of power and alot of traction to need a 12 bolt.

used 10-bolts are cheap like $200-250.

Whats the application and raceweight? What gear you want to run?

          I was able to cut a 1.4 60' on my 10 bolt at a 3050lb raceweight with a 3.42 gear.
