i have a quick question. I know it might sound dumd but i dont know. Will the check Guages light come on when im about to run out of gas. i own a 1996 camaro v6 i dont know if that helps any.

when does it come on at E or a 1/4 of a tank. I think some of the newer 3.8L V6's gauges come on when you get low on gas. I know that mine does not, but it is a '93. have any of you guys hade to replace the fuel pump because you burned them up. that is what i have heard and i did it in my 1995 monty carlo it was 600 buck to replace to1996 CAMARO M5 3.8, SLP CAI, FLOWMASTER CAT BACK WITH 80 SERIES.<br />MODS ON THE WAY ZEXEL LSD, ONE PIECE DRIVESHAFT.Comment

Mine comes on close to empty. I always run mine down to empty and my fuel pump is fine.2000 Camaro 3.8 v6 M5

Ran out of gas twice. My mom was driving it from a long trip and I was asleep and it ran out on the highway. Once more also while I was on the way to the damn gas station! I'm pretty sure on a 96 you will get no warning when you are about to run out of gas. I know because i had mine below E before and have had it very close to E many times. check gauges comes on whenever a gauge (except the tach) touches a red zone. So when it hits the red marker on E it will light upComment

No it won't come on. It will only come on when you actually do run out of gas but by that point it is to late.
Also they don't come on when you hit the red. My 95 went all the way to 270 degrees and the check guages light didn't come on.

Eh...look at everyone who replied and mentioned something about a check guages light...none of them had a 96. They all had newer cars. On a 96, i don't even know if there IS a check guagues light. I know mine has never came on.
EDIT: Ok, so i just went and checked and my car does have a check gagues light, but no i have never seen it come on. I have had an alternator go out (put voltage gague in red) and have been below E on gas and the light never came on. I know on my mom's 99 though the check guages light comes on when you are almost out of gas.
