when does it come on at E or a 1/4 of a tank. IM affraid to go down to E, i heard you can burn up the fuel pump if you go below a 1/4 of a tank.and how much longer do i have if the light does come on.1996 CAMARO M5 3.8, SLP CAI, FLOWMASTER CAT BACK WITH 80 SERIES.
MODS ON THE WAY ZEXEL LSD, ONE PIECE DRIVESHAFT.

I think some of the newer 3.8L V6's gauges come on when you get low on gas. I know that mine does not, but it is a '93. I would assume that the light would come on when the "range to empty" is around 40 miles.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

Ran out of gas twice. My mom was driving it from a long trip and I was asleep and it ran out on the highway. Once more also while I was on the way to the damn gas station! But it still runs fine.99\' Black Camaro SS
M6/T-Tops - SLPLid w/K&N | Hurst Billet Plus w/ LSS | EGR Mod
Black 97\' Camaro T-Tops (RIP)

I'm pretty sure on a 96 you will get no warning when you are about to run out of gas. I know because i had mine below E before and have had it very close to E many times. I think in 97 when they went to the digital odometer and all that stuff is when they added that feature...not sure though.Matt
\'96 Camaro Z28 M6
\'96 Camaro M5

No it won't come on. It will only come on when you actually do run out of gas but by that point it is to late.
Also they don't come on when you hit the red. My 95 went all the way to 270 degrees and the check guages light didn't come on.

Eh...look at everyone who replied and mentioned something about a check guages light...none of them had a 96. They all had newer cars. On a 96, i don't even know if there IS a check guagues light. I know mine has never came on.
EDIT: Ok, so i just went and checked and my car does have a check gagues light, but no i have never seen it come on. I have had an alternator go out (put voltage gague in red) and have been below E on gas and the light never came on. I know on my mom's 99 though the check guages light comes on when you are almost out of gas.
