  • difference between 7mm and 8mm wires?

I just had my Taylors replaced by mechanic this past week because they burned out. I was just wondering if the mm sizes really make much of a difference? When I had the 8mm Taylors my car seemed to pull pretty hard up top (this was also with NGK plugs). Well after I had the Bosch plugs and 7mm Belden wires installed, the car just doesnt seem to pull quite as hard. It still pulls nicely, just doesnt quite seem to be as fast as it felt before. I know this is only a SOTP judgement, and I could easily be psyching myself out by expecting more, but it just seems a tad slower. Do the wire sizes make much of a difference? Also, has anyone heard of Belden wires? My guy is a napa mechanic and he said they were better wires than my Taylors, I said it was fine as long as he fixed the freakin' misfires. Was just curious about them. Thanks!

All in your head. If the car is in good running order a switch of plug wires won't really give you a seat of the pants difference.

The difference in 7mm and 8mm plug wires is the size of the insulation, not the size of the conductor. If you don't have any misfires, then you are making the same power you were before.

yep there is about a 1mm difference ;)

don't seat it, I went form 7mm accels to 8mm accels noticed a difference since I needed a tune up but overall at the track no real gains over previous setup.

Alright, that's cool then. I figured I was just imagining it, but I wanted to be sure. I think I'm always expecting the car to be world's better when it comes from the mechanic for some reason, rather than just running normal. High expectations or something, but I am loving the car again since the misfires are gone. I tell you what, it sucks driving around for two weeks and everytime you go over 2000rpms have it start spitting and farting at ya. But that's cool, I hope these wires work nicely, so far they're doing their job. Thanks for the info guys.
