  • Serpentine belt replacement

Hi, I've got a 98 Firebird that needs a new serpentine belt, so I'm wondering how to replace it. I know there's a tensioner that I need to release (I think it's under the alternator) but I tried popping it out and couldn't get it (it was kind of bending and I didn't want to break it). Any tips?

Just take a long ratchet to the tensioner...there should be a diagram in the engine compartment. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Cool, I'll try that....there is a diagram in the engine bay but it only shows how the belt fits on the pulleys. I figured this should be something that's easy to do, not like changing spark plugs, LOL
