you would have to run on higher octane, but you would not have to change the thermo. If you want one, I'm trying to sell mine... maybe we could work something out.

I think you can.. its either 91 or 93. Thats just recommended because you're messing with the timming. I'm sure 91 would be fine.

Yeah, 91 is fine. No pinging, but 93 feels a lot better. I don't know why, maybe the 2 ticks on octane make a difference. At least get the 180 degree thermo. Your car will run hotter. Not difficult to change at all. You might lose a cup of antifreeze. Takes a whole 10 minutes if that.

You need the extra octane to keep your knock retard from hurting your performance more than the Jet Chip supposedly helps it. The Jet Chip is suppose to add hp by advancing your timing. It's been said that the MAF Translator is a much better mod but requires some testing to make it work right. You might already have a 180* thermostat, my roommate's manual for his 99 bird says he has a 180. I think mine was something weird, either 190 or 195 but had a little hole in it with a bearing held to partially block it, I've never seen anything like it and have no clue what it's for.
