  • My first oil change ever!

In my new car that is. ;) Couple a questions: (1)How accurate is that sensor that tells you it's time to change your oil. (I'd rather go on mileage but sometimes I forget where I started) (2) I bought 5w-30 instead of 10w-30. Is that a good thing or a bad thing. I'm thinking it's not a bad thing. But I'm just looking for verification. Thanks folks.

The oil sensor goes by engien temp, rpm and loads while u drive and keeps track of all this things and when the computer think the oil life i reached it triggers the light. So it depends how u drive. The light will not always come on the same amount of miles driven.5w 30 it's no problem.

My PCM has gone over 9,000 miles before triggering the oil change light... the oil may be good for that long but the filters aren't! I change mine every 3k miles! ;)

Regular ol' Valvoline. No synthetic blend.

I'd go with Mobil 1 Synthetic if I were you.
