  • How do you "bleed" powersteering?

I may be putting on a new powersteering hose for a friend tommorow and i need to know exactly how to bleed the air out of the lines. Im pretty sure its neccesary right? Its on a 97 grand am but I assume most gm cars would basically be the same. Thanks,

    Brandon

Jack your car up until the front wheels aren't touching the ground and put it on jack stands, start the car up and turn the wheel from stop to stop slowly about until the bubbles stop coming up from the reservoir. The easiest way to do this is to have two people, one turning the wheel, the other one watching the reservoir.
