they are for only if you need them.
If your A/C pressure is down, a can of refridgerant with some oil in it wouldn't be a bad idea.
But you DO NOT want to over-pressurize the A/C system.15.41 @ 89.80 & 15.45 @ 91.64, 2.21 60ft, 3,440 raceweight, using OEM Equipment.
\'98 L67/M49 w/ 134,000 miles before spun bearing. \"It\'s all stock, Baby!\"

Hugger3800,
Depends. If your A/C system is solid and is just a little low on 134A then a simple recharge is valid.
I have not had to do anything with my Camaro yet, but I also have a Fiero. If you know anything about Fiero's then you know that they are very high maintenence vehicles and that includes the A/C system.
Recently I had to charge (read top off) the Fiero system. Most Fiero A/C systems leak and leak around the seals for various reasons. There is a product out now that is a complete recharge package for under $20 and you can get it from Wal-Mart as well as most auto stores. It is a one can unit with a pressure gauge on top and mixed with the refigerant is a leak detection dye and compatiable 134A oil and a leak stopper (seal expander). The recharge instructions are complete and simple. The gauge is transferable from one can to another. I used this system a month ago and the A/C system will now freeze you with the outside temperature above 95.2001 Camaro M5 Coupe(1 of 2,737), no options, Whisper Lid, K&N Air Filter, Free Ram Air, MAFS Screen removed, SLP Manual Fan Switch, 160 thermo, DEE\'s T/B Spacer, EGR Block-off plate, IAT resistor, CAI to EGR air feed, B&M Ripper Shifter, SLP Replacement Grill, T/A Exhaust, SLP five spoke take-off wheels, BMR strut-tower brace, BMR Tunnel Brace, BMR 32/21 front & rear sway bars with poly, BMR Poly/Combo Rear Control Arms, Clear front & rear corners, HPP3 modified 87 Octane program.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/red2k1
