  • changed oils yesterday bigger filter

    Ok so i used the bigger fram filter. The one that goes on tahoe's. Because my dad had one for his truck and he didnt need it so it let me have it. well the car runs just fine althought i am noticing a change in oil pressure i know your all going to say oh its just the stock guage so dont even worrie abou it but it is moving all over the place its way past 60psi and when i stop it drop way below it what the hell is going on here.

    I never heard of this happening before, but I guess I would try putting the stock replacement filter back on to see what happens.

        Did you compensate for the bigger filter by putting that much more oil in the car? You'll probably be off by about half a quart or so. Check the fluid level.

          well you need to make sure they cross reference each other, otherwise the valving in the filter may not suit your application. I went to a bigger filter it's the bigger purolator and is supposed to cross reference with the smaller stock filter, it's supposed to cross reference with the filter for 4.3 v6's.. anyway that's what I run and I have noticed a bit more oil pressure but it can't be more than a few pounds

          anyway if you are noticing that much fluctuation first you should check the level then if that's good I'd grab a stock filter and see if the same thing happens, one thing you gotta remember when adding not stock/OE mods is that not all cars are going to react the same to the same mods
