  • missing between 2500 and 3000 rpm

I just changed the plugs and wires less than 1000 miles ago. car runs fine until you try to accelerate using more than about 1/4 throttle if you do it starts to stumble and back fire at about 2500 and quits around 3000 rpm at which time it throws a p0306 (#6 misfire) code. Question is why just between 2500 and 3000?

could be a loose coil pack that only oves around that rpm. i had that same problem before and tightened them down and it fixed it

If it were a coil pack he would have 2 cyclender misfires not just one. Check the wire and the plug. And did you use Delco Iridium plugs? If not pull them out and get the factory ones. Gm engines don't like plug changes, the dealer would change them out just to rule out the plugs.

make sure that the wires didnt acidently touch the header or other hot part "already". and burn through.. or arent touching anything metal and grounded.

then i guess my car is a freak. but i did forget to mention that after the plugs and wires were replaced the loose coil pack that one and only terminal was coroded (mispelled i think) but that was my experience with it

Check to make sure none of the wires are the least bit singed. Make sure they're wired the correct way.

well, I haven't changed anything on the ignition system. but today I noticed what was wrong, my header burned the spak plug wire that fires spark plug#6. Now I have to replace it. Those cables were initially conected 2 years ago, and I didn't bought the boot protector. I guess this time, I'll buy them, and will be more careful with the wires.
