My Mom tells me that I don't drive my car enough. I only drive it on weekends for around 20 miles. Plus I start it every other day when it sits. The most I let it sit is around 5-7 days. She does not know very much about cars, and I told her it is fine, but she still bugs me about it. :rolleyes:
I do drive it enough, right?

jsut drive it more for fun... not sure on specifics but I do believe you can run into battery problems if you don't drive it enough.
just pop off the tops and take if for a spin or two... I think I drove 30 miles today just to remind myself I still need to fix my clutch, and just enjoy driving a car and none of that stupid truck crap.

I'm not one to disagree with Eric, but you don't need to drive it that much. I start and move my car once a month. Otherwise, she sits. You drive it once a week, so you are good.
It's funny how cars tend to rot if you don't drive it enough. I let my 1980 Trans-am sit (on blocks) for 4 months; and the whole thing was practcally rusted and rotted to the ground. I probably didn't do enough to store it properly, but it's gone now. Makes me wonder what the pro's do with thier vintage/antique cars.
Anyway, L36Camaro, I think you should be fine with what you are doing.
ehh my thoughts, put miles on it, get the fluids going, keep the parts moving, keep the parts lubricated, get some heat in the motor.
you are not going to "hurt it"
I think of my car like a runner, gotta keep working it out to keep it in shape.
I mean don't have to go overkill all the time but run it hard. And by doing so it seems my car has had less "wierd" problems then most cars that are babied.

sounds good to me. my take is that you should be all right as is. maybe start her up and go around the block or run to the 7-11 and get a soda if your mom persists. but one option if u let her sit for like more than a month is just to disconnect the battery, if you dont want the comp to have to relearn again there are battery tenders that charge then maintain without overcharging.

Maybe she's smarter than you think, or - just trying to get you out of the house. I'm with Eric (and Mom) on this one. However, those short runs don't heat things up enough to be benificial imo. Why put condensation in your pipes if you aren't going to cook it off? Engine too. Are you running synthetic?
haha im not saying literally around a tiny lil block. L36 did say the most is 5-7days so it might be fewer at times. i usually let my car idle for 3 mins after start up to let her warm up a lil, especially with a turbo u would want to do this to let that warm up too. but pistons need to expand, they start oval and become circle, and the engine needs to get to proper temperature to burn off fuel efficiently enough. i still say your ok if its mostly under 5 days but if u get to 5 or more go ahead and take her for a spin and practice launching or sumtin.
