Any ideas? I think the topics title says everything. Nothing that jumps out to me. Fresh oil change, new fuel filter, new air filter, PCV is new, new plugs/wires from when I did headers. 55K miles. Ive never got good mileage but its getting ridiculous now. At first I blamed it on the 3.73s but im back at 3.08s now and its the same. I need to just start from scratch I guess and start replacing **** lol.
    So where to start?

Stop driving like an a**hole. Seems like your doing a lot of city driving, i'm assuming its an A4 since you have 3.08s. Just try to accelerate slower, keep the rpms down, etc.

We've been beating the mileage topic to death here lately. Do a search and you'll see what I mean. I've written up some good posts with graphs and everything documenting all 200+ thousand miles of my car's mileage if you care to find them, but the biggest thing is just what fbody3400 said. Keep your foot out of it! There is no magic potion that will help you get 30 mpg in the city and 50 on the highway, but if you take it easy, 18 city/30 hwy might be doable. (From what I've read, most guys here seem to average 20-25 mpg for mixed driving.)

Check your tire pressure. Pump it up to the max. That outta help, brake as little as you can and try to coast to stops rather than going full speed and then braking hard. If you have alignment issues which is noticable get it fixed. Do a fuel system cleanup. Make sure you don't get cheap gas. I have a manual and I get a little bit better gas mileage considering its a 3.8 but I also do a lot of grandma driving with occasional need for speed combined for 50/50 city/highway.

I've got an M5 with 3.23s and the highest I've ever gotten driving all highway speeds is 32 MPG.

yeah do it if you want your tires to wear out faster in the middle.

pump it to the max? you sure have no idea what your saying

but yah proper tire pressure helps and bad alignment would scrub off a few mpgs, but wow 16mpg!? Almost all of my driving is street going back and forth from school(the University of Southwestern Community college :D ) -i live like 6 mins away so i often go home to eat or whatever and i am back up to 21 or so with a few minor mods but then again i only have about 30,000 miles. yah try to keep a steady speed, correct me if im wrong but the comp will sense that and use as lil fuel as possible. like when idling it uses just enough to keep running.

i think he meant his driving is typically 50% street and 50% highway not mpg, thats hybrid territory

and sorry for the long post
