• just got an oil-change...................

i have got my car in last summer and since that i changed my own oil . i have always put 10w-30 castrol hi milage and k & n gold. but yesterday i had my oil changed at a shop. when i looked at the receipt i saw that the guy filled it with 5w-30 motor oil :( . i know i suppose to put 10w-30. Is it bad for my car? any possible damage? thanks.

Not too much of a difference, once you start changing the last number though its a lil different.

You gotta put in twice as much 5w-30 as you do 10w-30.

              Don't actually do that...

What does the weight mean on a can of motor oil?

I guess 5W 30 would be best in the colder seasons and 10W 30 would be best in the warmer seasons? or vise verca?

Depends on how cold you are talking. In Maine, 5W is desirable when the temps go below zero. If you are talking like 30 degrees, 10W is fine.

For the most part... Floridians generally use 10W30...
