I just bought a 1997 Firebird 3.8 engine with computer for a project. I'd like to find out if I will need the BCM to make it run. It seems the issue boils down to whether or not the car was equipped with a Theft Deterrent System. Here are the numbers on my engine computer: SERV. NO. 16227797 CABZ
This engine is not in a car right now. It is going into a Volvo and I am trying to find out if I'll need the BCM to make it run. I was hoping there was a way to tell if it had theft deterrence just by the code on the engine computer.
