• Acceleration problem.. HELP !!

Hello fellow V6er's, Need a little help with a problem.

She runs great except when accelerating on an incline or with a hard acceleration. I get a hard sputter for a few seconds. It almost seems like a miss but not really. Have had new wires and plugs put in and fuel filters. Still she continues to act up. No SES trip so no codes to scans.

    Any thoughts.

She never did this before but for the last few weeks and it has been driving me crazy …ahhh

Maybe you have bad sparks, my dad had bad sparks and they blamed it on the fuel injectors but it turned out that it was the sparks, if you got cheap ones there is a high chance otherwise maybe the fuel injector.

if it's a 94 to 96 3.4 chack your 2/4 piston and arm. It happened to me in my old 94 3.4. Snaped the piston arm right in half. I called the dealer and from the info I gathered it was a defect in the mettal at the time. I was lucky that it didnt go right through my block.

whenever you have engine problems, think FAST. (fuel, air, spark, timing) ok so you've replaced most of the ignition, thats out. fuel filter... check. those r the most common things, you've gotten a good start. how many miles do you have? could be a dying sending unit, or maybe that strainer in the gas tank. (just venturing to guess). while u were changing the filter didja notice any leaks? a leaky fuel line would do it. uh... check the intake. make sure the filter is nice and clean. it probably wouldnt hurt to check vacuum hoses. i dont know why but those darn vacuum hoses cause all sorts of crazy things to happen. (the best way to check for leaks is to let the engine idle and listen for a hissing... use a mechanic's stethescope if you got one)timing isn't as common but maybe. how long has it been since ya changed the timing chain/water pump? its hard to say dude, cuz it could be a buncha different things. as long as your changing everything just figure that it's gotta be done sooner or later. cars wear out. thats my mentality. hope i'm at least a little help man, sorry i cant tell you exactly.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think Camaro Dom is on the right track. No leaks when I changed the filter. The air intake is clean. I was thinking vacuum hose as well. I checked all that I could and no hissing sounds and the system seems to hold good pressure when I disconnect a line. I am leaning towards a fuel system problem. Sometimes it runs great and than other times it acts like Sh*t. It seems to be happening more often now as if the problem is progressing. Something is breaking down. I might just have to break down and just take her to the dealer. I hate going there and blowing a wade of cash on diagnosing the problem.

                     Thanks again for the input

I would suggest checking the fuel pressure, it may be your fuel pump. If you can get a FP gauge that you can view while driving, then you can take it out and see how the pressure does when accelerating. I had a minivan that would sputter on take off, and it was a weak fuel pump.
