I had a 96 rs camaro till it got rammed in the rear and it just had a ravin muffler. my new 98 has a flowmaster and a hi flow cat but it does not have the rasp sound and quick accel as my 96 had. my 96 did the same as the 98 did when the fuel pump was going bad, the 96 had no rasp in the exhaust sound at all till I got a new fuel pump installed and then it rasp above 3000 rpm and was really faster then it was before. the 98 has some surging when going about 30 mph to 60mph where just driving normally no hard accel and the rpms drop from 2300 rpm till about 1900 rpm like it cant keep the power stedy and it has to drop the gear down to go up a hill. the 98 has no rasp in it at all just a smooth tone i like the sound but could this be a sign that the fuel pump in the 98 is going bad.

Your fairly new, but a period here and there would be beneficial. Hell even thow in a comma.
To address your question. Either get a testing Fuel Pressure Gauge, or have your fuel pressure tested. I can't remember what the fuel pressue should be, but if you search, Im sure you will find the correct number.
If you pressure is low, you are probably right. Also sometimes if a the pump is bad, it will wine really loud. -
