Has anyone done this? If so, how'd you recalibrate the speedometer to give an accurate speed?

97+ cars with the digital odometer are VERY easy to change out. You just take one out and put the other in. EVERYTHING will work, that is all gauges, tach, speedometer, etc. except for the odometer. The odometer will give the mileage of the car u got the gauges from. Everyone with the older mechanical gauges will need to switch out resistors in the tach, i really don't know about the older cars, but i know about 97+ from experience. The only catch is if u have a 2001 u have to get 155mph gauges from a 2001 z28, cuz they change the wiring up in the gauges year to year for some odd reason. I know this from experience also since i fried a set of 97 gauges in my 2001, sent them back and got 2001 gauges and they work perfect. You may need to get the Air Bag sensor in the gauges itself to resyncronize with the Air Bag sensor currently in your car, I had to do that also, but any dealer should do that free of charge. Only drawback, again, is u will have the mileage from the "donor" car.

so everything should work if its the same year as your car right?? what about for the 2002's, because you said only 2001 or is it 2001 & 2002's? has anyone else done this and had similar or different results...

What about your odometer?
I have a 2001 Firebird, and am seriously considering getting the gauge cluster from a 2001 trans am to put in.
Will the tach and speedometer work correctly, then???
Also, is there a way to fix the odometer? Im sure if a dealership has to replace a gauge cluster under warranty, there must be a way to change the odometer reading since its a replacement.Property of Dave Hamburger

stagen,
Wasn't your tach off since it's expecting 8 signals but only sees 6? I've had a 150mph cluster sitting in my closet for nearly two years waiting to find a solution to that problem. I know all the gagues should work right except I thought the tach would be off. Do you know if this is the case or not?Wayne<br />94 5 spd Camaro<br />Turbo/Intercooled<br /> <a href=\"http://www.geocities.com/Mustang732/cars.htm\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.geocities.com/Mustang732/cars.htm</a> <br /><br />Megasquirt Stand-alone EFI controling fuel/spark w/ wideband:<br /> <a href=\"http://home.att.net/~basic-4/2ndMegasquirt/NewMegasquirt.html\" target=\"_blank\">http://home.att.net/~basic-4/2ndMegasquirt/NewMegasquirt.html</a>
