  • Air pump flow

On 3.4L motors, what direction is the air flowing when the pump is activated? It takes air from the air intake(between TB and air filter) and pumps it through a one-way valve then directed down to the exhaust pipe(between the exhaust manifold and before the cat)correct me if im wrong.

also, I tried the jumper wire in place of the relay and Key "oN" and air pump would not activate. I've checked and wiggled the harness connection and only noticed oily dirt-like grease covering the connection. Not to mention the majority of that lower front corner in the engine bay. How easy do you think it would be to foul the pump from an oily greasy leak or fluid leak? Any idea what the "air-pump" runs for$

Did you make sure the fuse it alright? It is an electric pump, and can easily go out. The pump itself is expensive, I would say 150-200 range from the dealer. A new one was on ebay for about 75. Mine has not worked since I've had the car, honestly I don't think it matters too much. It won't set a code and the car will run alright without it. In my opinion, it doesn't justify replacing or messing with, especially when it is so pricey.

i've always felt that way bout the "air-pump"thingy. i also wondered bout if it has anything to do with "open/closed" loop mode? would the "air-divert" function also have anything to do with the pump? Just wondering why would it have no effect if it worked or not? even more- why'd they put it in there anyways?

              what bout the flow direction?
