• Hesitation to start..

Ok, I think i know what it is.. heres how i came to this conclusion..

you know when u furst turn the key to "on" u can hear the in tank fuel pump(or isnt it in tank?) pump fuel? ok.. well normally i just turn the key without waiting for it to pump.. and if i do that now, it takes nearly 5 whole seconds to start (normally 1-2).. if i wait for the feul to pump completely, it takes like 3 seconds now..

how would i go about replacing this? and is it something someone could do in their driveway? i really dont want to have to take a visit to the shop, plus im swearing on fixing my car 100% by myself now..

so does it sounds like a fuel pump??

    need tips

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Replacing the fuel pump is a pain in the *** .

Does it just take a long time to start? or are there drivability problems like missing, and hesitation.

I would at least change the plugs and wires first. That solves many hard starting problems. Or at least check your fuel pressure or have it checked.

It just sounds like your fuel lines are not keeping the pressure for very long. I would not jump to replace the fuel pump as Eyeoutthere said. My car sometimes take a few seconds to start. As long as you are not having problems while driving I would just give your car a few extra seconds to build up the fuel pressure before starting.

i had that exact same problem over the summer, it did that for over 3 months. i assumed it was the fuel pump and was basically just waiting for it to finally die. but it never did. and the problem just went away. hasn't hesitated a start since august, for no apparent reason. anyway i asked the same question as for what could be the problem and obviously fuel pump could be it. could be the injectors, might be clogged. might try running some injector cleaner thru it. have you replaced the fuel filter? or it could be just as simple as a bad tank of gas. again this is all stuff i was told, so don't quote me here  good luck man, hopefully your problem will just go away like mine :D
