    Hello. I have camaro-98V6.
Now I have some trouble on my starter.
I am planning to replace the starter.

    I have some question.

    First.
It seems that there are some model in V6 engin, like 3.8/229 or 3.8/230 or 3.8/231. Which model is on my vehicle

    Second.
There are 3 type of starter, 168-tooth and 153-tooth and 168/153-tooth. Which type of them can work on my vehicle

Thank you for your answer, Tom Rs & Need4Camaro!

        We have 3.8/231 engin.
I searched the starter for 3.8/231 and find 2 starter in SummitRacing.

        and
        http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=KeywordSearch

And then, it seems that they have "160-tooth"!
        They are not 168-tooth/153-tooth.

Will it work on my vehicle?

        Thanks.

          Howdy V6J:
this is the GM part number for a 1998-2001 v6 firebird/camaro.

you can order genuine GM (AC-Delco) replacement parts here: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com

Just go there and enter this part number in the SEARCH field. 10465421

I got this info from a techical service manual that I will be hosting on my websit very soon. you will find it for downloading in the REFERENCE
          section of my website.

You should also be able to use this particular partnumber to decide which starter you need even if you don't by it from www.gmpartsdirect.com

You can also look up part numbers by clicking on the CATALOG button near the upper right of the home page at gmpartsdirect.com. Just click on cataloge then AGREE then enter your type, make and year of vehicle. after that you can browse through categories. Good Luck. g.
