  • Alternator Question

I recently bought an HO alternator and I have a question about it. It puts out the full voltage of roughly 14.6V when I start the car after it has been sitting for a bit (like overnight). As the car warms up, over the course of an hour or so, the voltage gradually slips down to 14V and stays there.

The alternator is very hot at this point so it leads me to believe that this is heat related. Is there anything I can do to prevent losing the voltage? My old alternator used to do this as well so I know it's not the new one.
