Get one of the Yellow Top batteries. They're quite expensive.. $170 I believe. But they're made to handle systems. Take measurements to see if it will fit where the regular battery does, because it's a good bit bigger.\'00 Camaro | V6 | A4 | White | Y87 | Neutral Leather | Monsoon | Flowmaster | Raised Air Box | Clear Corners | K&N Air and Oil | Mobil 1
160* T-Stat on the way

Bigtymer dont let them get you down some guys just dont understand the needs of bassheads like you and alot of other guys in car audio world. Some guys think adding a second battery alone or just a cap will do the trick of providing massive amounts of current. Anywho, there was an article in Car Audio in the June '02 issue about adding a second alt. The place that makes all the custom brackets and pulleys is called Dave's D.C. Electric the phone # is 888-441-0144 no website but it he has an e-mail davesdc@msn.com hope this is of assistance.White 1998 Firebird M5, Suncoast WS6 hood, Chrome 18\" C5\'s, beaver tail wing, 2 15\" Kicker Comp VR\'s, ect.

Why don't you just replace your current, I'm guessing stock alternator with a high amp one and get a better battery that is designed to put out and take in a lot of current/power instead of adding all this other stuff and adding weight and wasting money. Think about the alternatives to what you can do before you just decide to go out and get a second alternator and battery. I understand power demands and such but even if you put an extra battery in the trunk or somewhere else even under the car in a special custom case then most quality high amp alternators would be more then sufficient to keep a current and more then sufficient charge/power for your equiptment. Look at your options first before wasting your money and adding more hassle and work. Replacing an alternator is fairly easy and could solve all your problems. If you want more power for your amps, go with a high output alternator, and a deep cycle battery. This should resolve you power issues. The first thing I would do, is check your ground and make sure its good. Second make sure you have the right gauge wire coming from your battery. You probably need 4 gauge minimun if you're pushing 2000 rms, I would even go as far as 1 ot(sp). Third, make sure your ground wire is as big as your power wire. I'm wondering why your amp fried, and didn't just go into protection. Earthquate, from what I have heard, makes pretty good stuff so I would think it has protection.
With the kind of power you're pushing, you deffinately need a second battery and probably a high amp alternator. Remember voltage drop kills amps. When you get your second battery, take a volt meter and make sure you're getting at least 12v at the amp. Turn it up and then check it again to make sure the voltage is still there. Anything lower than that is bad for your amp. If you really want to spend some money, I would get a Power Bank they're like $300, and a battery. A power bank is like a cap on steroids. It provides the power instantly like a cap, but takes longer to drain. If you still have voltage drop, then I don't know what else to say.
When I get my second battery, I'm thinking about putting it in the side compartment or underneath my box.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! its 4 gauge wire... as for the ground... your wrong its best to have it as short at possible... trust me on this one....the amp did fry by not having enough power...i did look into the " cap on steriod , about bat placement .. lol NOT A SINGLE SQ INCH under the box so thats not an option.. i used all space i could with the box.. but usmhow il rig it up... im not going to put the amp back int ill i got it all set up right... i got a 6 farad cap sitting next to me and im gone put in the second battery... and if i notice a drop then il get a 165 amp alternator... but i really dont wun do that cuz evryone with high amps ones only comes with a 1 year warranty and i got one in my car ight now normal size with a lifetime warranty.... but o well.. im not pimpin out the speed on the car... so mine as well make the system best as possible.. since im hitting over 160 db heh peace

I ment your ground wire needs to be the same guage as your power wire. I know that it's not suppose to be long.

What kind of speakers do you have and how many! I haven't hear anyone hitting high than in the 50's with a Fbody  My friend has 8 15's in his truck and only hits a 56 somthing.
Edit: Be sure you hook that cap up right... I have heard horror stories of caps not being installed right. Let's just say there were fires was involved
