yep you should see a spark running from the terminal, if you got water on the coil pack I don't really if it would affect it or not but come on it's electricity that runs all throught the coils, you know it also might be a bad/faulty sensor when your ride warms up maybe your computer is prolly picking up that it's faulty I don't really know just a few other suggestions.

i had just gotten my misfire issue fixed, the mech went through all wires plugs coils and came up to be the problem of a fouled injector causing misfire on number 3k&n, flowmaster 80 series, wings west body kit, resonator removed, 180 therm.,carbon fiber, graphics, and a brand new 3.8 engine and tranny.<p><a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/jbfirebird\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/jbfirebird</a>

Ok, just got back from autozone, got the codes scanned, and guess what........not one single code found. Car is running perfect according to the computer.
So......im guessin its not a miss anymore, although thats sure as hell what it feels like.
1) Would a clogged cat cause a code to be thrown? It is a possibility that it could be the cat, although i dont hear any of the ceramic in the exhaust clunkin around.
2) Would the clutch be slipping perhaps? This is my first stick car, and dont know what a periodic cluth slipping would feel like.

To answer your questions:
1) Yes a clogged can can cause the car to run bad but it usually doesn't feel like a misfire, just loss of power. It will throw a code, usually, as well.
2)If the clutch was slipping the engine RPM would rise but you wouldn't accelerate. It simply feels like you slipped it into neutral and hit the gas.
My advice - Change your plug wires first, since they are the cheapest and your originals are high mileage. If that doesn't resolve the issue start in on the coils. I would buy just one coil pack and just start swapping it from one spot to the other until the misfires stop.2000 GTP<br />Thrasher CAI, 3.4\" pulley, DHP PCM<br />Member RedLineVSix<br />Best ET-14.02<br />Best Trap-97.15

I guess it wouldnt be a clogged cat if i havent gotten an SES light (oh yea, no SES light).
I want to look into this clutch thing more, than ill check out the wires and stuff.
Thanks for the responses guys, keep em coming!

If it was the clutch slipping you would feel a nasty *** jolt horrible, I still think you have a plug/wire/coil issue, they won't necessarily throw a code especially a coil....BTW did you personally check the coils to see if they have decent current? Just a question. ;)---Niño---<br /><i>95\' silver 5 spd</i>

nah, i havent checked the coils to see if they have good current. i currently dont have access to a multimeter any more because im back at school, but i will again in a week and a half when i am home again.
If it necessarily wont throw a code, i will check them for sure.

Sounds ver similar to what was happening to mine a while back. It would start to stutter under a load, and then on occasion, a backfire would be heard. It would seem to work itself out at times as well, only to come back.
My problem ended up being a combination of a badly clogged EGR Valve, and bad plugs/wires. But if your SES light never came on, I don't think the EGR valve would be your problem. Best bet would be to check your plugs and wires.

if wires/plugs/coils dont fix it, look to see if the injectors are gunked up. the issue that i was having was misfire on number three. after replacing all three things there, the prob still existed, turns out it was an injectork&n, flowmaster 80 series, wings west body kit, resonator removed, 180 therm.,carbon fiber, graphics, and a brand new 3.8 engine and tranny.<p><a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/jbfirebird\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/jbfirebird</a>

you prolly wont need to replace the injectors...just clean themk&n, flowmaster 80 series, wings west body kit, resonator removed, 180 therm.,carbon fiber, graphics, and a brand new 3.8 engine and tranny.<p><a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/jbfirebird\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/jbfirebird</a>

I bet its going to be your wires, see if you can look at it on a lift and see how bad they are up under your exhuast manifold.
man I just did my plugs and wires and when I went to pull off the cap from a spark plug, it ****ing severed from the wire soon as I yanked it off the spark plug\'01 Trans Am WS6 5.7L M6<br />Stock now w/ K&N and whisper lid<br />Coming soon: B&B Triflow catback, MAF, 85mm throttlebody, headers, supercharger?
