Ok it's now getting colder and my heater has not been performing to well. Takes my car at least 5 min to warm up. How long should I wait before I should consider my heater is not performing well? My parents intreped warms up in like a minute.

depend how cold it is outside.
Do you have a 160* T-stat, if so put a 180 or higher in.
Is your parents car in a garage?

5 min. to warm up, sounds like there is no problem to me....does it blow out hot air?

The T-stat won't make that much of a difference in how hot your heater gets and how hot the air comes out. It's minimal at most. I've have had mine for over a year and a half and my car gets plenty hot when I use my heater in the winter and its been around 30 degrees at night around hear. It just takes an extra minute or two to warm up. Their are newer more effiecient heater cores that you could get if you really wanted to. Check out the mohave(not spelled right) heater cores. They have a bunch of replacement heater cores that are more effecient and effective. Otherwise try waiting a couple of minutes for you car to warm up and such.

Sounds normal to me, it takes my car about 5 mins or so to warm up in around 40* weather.
