  • Proving 3.08 to 3.42 speedometer difference

I need to find a way to prove that my speedometer was put off 10% by the gear ratio change.. I need to first find a credible source to print off that says the car is limited art 118 (any idea?) Then I need to find a way to prove show that the limiter would actually kick in at 107mph with a stock computer.. Anyone have a good way for me to prove this?? Its for traffic court thanks!

Do you have a receipt for the gear swap? If so you could say that you didn't get the speedo recalibrated yet for the gear swap and give them a receipt of the swap. Then explain how changing gears makes the speedo become 10% off. Maybe find an article in howstuffworks.com or something showing how swapping gears does this.

i remember once, my moms speedo was off and she got pulled over while speeding. the cop didnt care, becuase having your speedo off isnt really an excuse becuase you should get it fixed when you do the gear change. thats what the cop said at least.

Did you get clocked at a speed you think is impossible since you swapped your gears and the speed limiter will kick on earlier?

I am guessing they clocked you at over 107 mph and since you swapped your gears from 3.08-3.42 you are claiming that is impossible since your speed limiter would have kicked in at 107 mph. If this is what you are claiming then you are correct. Just try using google to search for a reputable automotive source that you could use to show this is the case.
