It's just wierd that they've been working fine for like 3 years and they just decide to screw up now...

It seems like i got a smiliar problem with the DIS-4, also after 2.5years just working fine.
Suddenly it starts to missfire, you can even smell fuel, then, like a switch is turned back, it runs normal again.
I already changed coils (Accel to MSD) and Wires (Accel to Taylor), didn´t help... :(

Does it happen even with the MSD bypassed? If it does it could be your ignition control module.

Well, about one year ago the wires on the connector broke (typical cable break, the wires were not moved since the install, then while a repair i had to move them out of the way and they simply broke near the connector in a soft bent.I think they became hard over the time).
So I removed the connector completely and soldered everything together. Works fine,
but this way I can´t bypass the MSD.

When the car starts to missfire the DIS-4 still shows its red fast flashing light like normal.
I get also no SES or whatever.
I also moved the wires from the MSD to the CIUs a bit while it missfires to check if its just a bad connection inside the wires, but that doesn´t change anything.

Is there a way to check the ignition control module?

Just for future coil purchasers...the Accel coils DO NOT work well with the MSD DIS-4.

I am happy to say that I have not had any problems lately with my DIS-4...except for the fact that it blew an ignition fuse a few months ago.

Take it to Autozone.
The next Autozone is approx. 4000 miles away.
I just could take it to a GM Dealer and most of them got no clue about F-Bodies or american cars at all...

Ok, I hooked up a pulse generator and an o-scope to simulate the engine, and I can change the speed and watch it on the o-scope. And right at 3000-3100rpm it starts cutting out. It's fine below that and it's fine if I simulate it without the DIS-4. I've tried a number of coils(none are brand new though).

I´ll try that, too, a friend of mine got all that stuff, i think.

Sorry Chris didn't notice the Germany thing. I know when mine was missing I changed my ICM with a brand new one but it didn't help. I was beginning to think it's the interface modules, but this is sounding like a cronic problem since so many people are having problems. Do you think that Dual Channel Adapter would work. It says,
" In some instances when you install an MSD Ignition, the factory ECU may not be able to distinguish when the coil fires. This is the signal that is also responible for firing the injectors (or the tachometer), which may cause a no-run situation.
The Dual Channel Adapter simulates the original coil trigger signal thus allowing the ECU to properly trigger both the tach and fuel injection with the MSD DIS ignition installed. In most cases, the Adapter plugs directly into the MSD's Harness. For vechiles using an MSD DIS-2 Igniton, only one is required. For DIS-4 applications, two PN8912's are required."
I'm just saying because how could we all be hav ing ICM or coil or wire problems?
